Only Of You


There you stand; this apparition on stage,
Consuming the lives of fans from every age.
You win us over, with your mischievous grins,
You control us like puppets, merely dangling our strings.
I wonder if you realise how much you mean,
To every single fan here, nearly an icon it seems.
I wonder if you notice how many sing along,
To those long hours of hard work in your heart rendering songs.


You raise up your arms to signal the crowd,
“DUBLIN, ARE YOU RRRREADY??!” You shriek aloud.
A sudden burst of energy is ignited inside,
The hearts of us all, cheering with sheer pride.
My stomach feels like it’s twisting upside down,
Although I certainly don’t refrain from jumping around.
As you scream out “Dublin” in such an avid tone,
You’re telling us how proud you are to be at this show.


I can’t help but smile at everything in sight,
This must last forever, please, just this one night.
You prance around wildly in the centre of the stage,
Rapidly increasing our energy gauge.
Out comes the guitar that some lucky fan,
Can keep and tell everyone how much they kicked ass.
I wonder how it feels to make somebody’s day,
In the style you do it, your own unique way.


It’s time for the girls to giggle and scream,
As you happily invite us with: “SOMEBODY fuck ME!!”
That mischievous grin is once more found,
It creeps across your face, as you glance around.
Your dark, green eyes which are so distinct,
Glisten like diamonds, in emerald rings.
Your thick, black locks are flicked to the side,
As you admire the crowd, your eyes open wide.


We wait impatiently, we still want more,
As you stand and listen to the chanting soar.
You fold your arms, like a stubborn child,
Although listening happily to the crowd go wild.
I don’t want it to end, I want this moment to stay,
Celebrating Billie Joe Armstrong....
King for not one, but every single day.
