Inari King For A Couple Of Days Age: 37 Gender: Female Posts: 2538	August 22nd, 2006 at 12:20pm I promise this is the last one for a while. I'll stop playing attention whore after this. I could have sworn that I promised to give you up for safety, but here's my tragic destiny scribed in black and blue honesty: you're the last thing on my mind, the first name on my tongue. I'm just realising that love is the worst kind of drug with a novocaine shot to the system and an arrow through the heart while I'm blacking out the stars, wishing it could be easier to erase your memory from my eyes, the feel of your fingertips tattooed on my skin when pressure makes it sting like bruises. We were supposed to have touched down before I broke down but you slipped off the radar between the dial tone and heartbreak so the only crash landing here tonight has been with my heart. I'm trying not to realise how much I miss you when I pledged I wouldn't or see the way you're curled up miles away from where my hands can reach you and how you're probably chasing sleep-worn dreams on someone else's downtown couch tonight. But I'm still wondering what you're dreaming, what truths your subconscious is painting on your ivory lids while I'm distracted by dread at the answer to that hypothetical thought in loneliness. How can I forget about you when I can still taste you on my pillow, smell you on my lips and feel you in confines of my mind? Was this the way that destiny joked with us, drawing us out of rainstorm romances and the isolation we found between empty covers only to jolt us back into their embraces when we became out-dated? I'll never know, but I'll leave these love-washed kisses pressed against your mirror as the postscript to this worn-down romance, scatter flowers across the bedsheets for the memories inside them. Just so you know, that forget-me-not on your pillow has a double meaning.

I want to be able to write like this. I adored the line 'How can I forget about you when I can still taste you on my pillow, smell you on my lips and feel you in confines of my mind?'

If I had any doubts before I read that line, they must have vanished. Is that one of those lines you just come up with and think oh my god? Because you really struck gold there
