We drowned in oceans of rainfall and kissed
in the snow; welcomed the spring and embraced
the summer with teasing arms. I have missed
your sugar sweet apple eyes softly laced
with affections; your soothing liquorice
lips. You are still the owner of my heart,
beating heavy rhythms and soft wishes
against a bell jar wall. I am apart
from my emotions, so they can't be torn
asunder; only through your kitten flesh.
Every scar I deliver to my worn,
aching shell, destroys you too, makes a mess
of what I thought I'd fixed. You'd never know
we're staring down the same gun, the same show. |
