The Shadow

Living in the shadow of someone else's dream
Is so hard, which you may or may not see.
With the losses, the great pressures
Heighten my emotions to great measures.
Being only 2nd best, being constantly pushed aside,
You don't want to be living in my life, where no one is kind.
Reach out; Give me a push with all your might.
I've always wanted to live on the bright side of light.
I may look happy on the outside,
But I weep eternally on the inside.
Everyone and everything used to be just fine,
Until I tripped on a microscopic line.
How did I get this way, you ask.
Why do you have to wear a mask?
I wish I could answer that, I really do,
But the problem is, I don't know, too.
So take my hand, and help me up.
I forgot how to stand up
For myself, and that's my biggest weakness.
I can't see, I can't breathe, I can't think because of the darkness.
Now they know why I wear so much black.
So put this poem down, and look back.
You are so lucky your life is so happy…Because mine will never be.
