The real reason I wrote this song is because CBGB is closing tonight, and to me this signifies the end of an era. What the song is mainly about is how a lot of classic bands (the Ramones, the Clash, the Sex Pistols, etc.) were revolutionary because they pushed free-thinking and personal expression to a new level, and I don't really see very many bands doing so today. It seems that individualism was valued back in the time of those bands, but today people always want to fit in. So here's the song. I'd really like some feedback.

Days have come and gone
Some more quickly than the rest
And the years of true rebellion
Have become part of the past

What happened to the true radicals
Who shaped opinions for years to come?
'Cause now thinking has become so safe
And that takes away the fun

Well some people don't believe it
And some say it is a lie
But the dawn is marching closer
So kiss the memories goodbye

(Chorus)
Tonight the saints will sing again
At last we'll be someone
Tonight we'll find our voice and hope
Tomorrow will never come
'Cause I've heard of days where opinions matter
When 'equality' was not just a phrase
Well tonight when the world is subconscious
Let's relive those days

Memories have faded away
And rights have been demolished
Everyday there's a new excuse
For why free-thinking is abolished

An era ends tonight
Like all good things must do
Bittersweet is in the air
Making me wish this wasn't true

Tomorrow we'll wake up
And never consider the past
The martyrs didn't fight for this
So let's make tonight last

'Tis is pity that it's gone. Thanks very much!
