 | October 16th, 2006 at 08:56am Hmm, I am a morose bat. Mmmhmm. I am Helen Caulfield. o_o.
Usual disclaimer, don't ask, don't tell.
Annabel. A typical
little girl.
Of some vague description.
Golden curls, sunny smile.
A living limerick. She saw the world
through a glazed sepia
tone. Even the most
putrid vomit was a Photoshop
sculpture of peach sunlight.
One weakness she had;
ballet.
She pirouetted gracefully,
in her stocking feet
across her mother's precious
parquet floor. The only stage light
for Annabel was a phosphorous glow
from the television set, the orchestra
doubling as her accompliment
and a theme tune for some
juvenile, puerile program.
She even wore her slipper satin
ballet shoes- a shimmering fuchsia-
into the operating theatre.
They tried to revive her
spinning, leaping heart. She even
gave a petit battement to the doctor's
groin! Alas, alas, no curtain calls, no encore.
As her parents mutter out
hasty, accusing orisons,
She dances. She spins her dainty
five-year-old foot on the planets.
A spotless white tutu. She's traded in
her fluffy pink fairy wings
for cherub wings. |
