Interview with the Vampire is a novel by Anne Rice about vampires written in 1973 and published in 1976 by Alfred A. Knopf. In 1994 the book was made into a popular Hollywood blockbuster starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt starring as the main characters as Lestat de Lioncourt and the protagonist Louis de Pointe du Lac respectively.

The book and the film center on themes of immortality, loss, sexuality, and power, quickly becoming a cult success, with a major influence on present Goth culture. The novel was followed by several sequels, collectively known as The Vampire Chronicles.

The novel was set apart from its predecessors of the vampire genre by its confessional tone from the vampire's perspective, touching on existential despair and the sheer boredom of lifeless immortality

I loved this movie when I first saw it. I haven't seen it in ages though. I also loved the book. Originally I thought I was going to hate seeing the movie because Tom Cruise was in it but he was rather good.

I really have to see it again soon.

I think the movie is class. And I'm not really a fan of vampire films so, that's saying something.

i love both the book and the movie. i watched the movie many years back and started reading the chronicles in the recent years. anne rice is an amazing writer.

brad pitt and tom cruise both played their parts quite well (although i always thought that if johnny depp played lestat, it would've been more interesting)

I do agree that Tom Cruise played Lestat well..I guess I've just never been a fan of him. Besides, I still think it's would've been interesting to see how he would've played the character..him being somewhat eccentric and all..

tom cruise did make a great lestat with the creepy grin and all. i've never been much of a tom cruise fan but this was probably his best role.

i was just thinking how much more interesting johnny would've made the character though. johnny is definitely the better actor and he probably would've made lestat super quirky =P

i rented it this weekend, i love/d it.
although it annoyed me how low they spoke.

i was a little hesitant at first, knowing tom and brad were in it, but i think they both did a great job.

I'm reading 'The Vampire Lestat' again.
I LOVE Lestat.
Still haven't seen the movie ...
Johnny Depp would've made a cool Lestat. So would Jared Leto I think.

Jared Leto is awesome. He needs bigger roles.
I didn't like Kirsten Dunst as Claudia though. She played it well but she was just overly irritating.
