Main Land I
The Main Land


Parrots

I can see the mainland
From my island.
The inhabitants are parrots,
But what am I?
I am not a parrot.

They speak the same
On different parts of the mainland.
I still wish to join them;
Can they swim to my island?
Their wings would get wet.

The Island

My island revolves
Around the mainland.
But it never gets closer,
There are other islands too.
They do not get closer.

There are other animals
On the other islands.
But those are fit for many animals,
And close enough for the animals to move.
My island is too far away.

Can they see me
From their islands?
I could not swim there;
Are we even the same animals?
No, I am not welcome.

I like the word pattern in the second one (:

I'm amazed how you can use that kind of simplicity and say that much. I guess it's the one thing that always made me read your work; curious to what comes next.

Now about 'Sea People'. I didn't like the choppyness, it did have the Nick element, though.
Kudos for originality. =]

At first I didn't like the sea people structure, but now I absolutely adore it. It suggests a hint of instability. Like Ella, I love how you turn simple things into something that can mean so much more. I love these two parts, now for the next three!

I agree about the the structure on Sea People, it made it a little difficult to read. But it didn't alter the fact that both were amazing, you really do have a way of writing with such simplicity and pulling it off.

I can honestly say it's one of the most interesting poems I've ever read. Awesome.
