| January 28th, 2007 at 03:52pm I think it was Story Tellers or what its called, where family and friends talk about their lives and stuff, and someone said that it was because Gilman Street had rejected them because they had become popular. So Billie Joe wrote the song as a big 'fuck you' to Gilman Street. Ive also heard that it was because Adrienne had broken up with him for a while. But i guess Billie Joe should know best, as he wrote it.  |

That was a documentary on VH1 [Driven Green Day]. It was Rob Cavallo who said it and he said it was actually a big fuck you.
He did not say it was a fuck you to the Gilman St.
