The Sun

I'm scared to death
Of what's to become
Of my fragile body
As I look towards the Sun.

Amazement and wonder;
But horror is still there strong.
I want to go closer although
This may be extremely wrong.

No one's ever ventured
So very close before.
It's taking forever
But I just must see more.

Will I die and
Burn to smithereens?

Maybe it'll happen way too
Fast for me to notice. But the
Excitement and brightness are
Being too good of a hostess.

I can taste saltiness on my
Lip. I'm sweating from the heat.
The Sun is gorgeous and I
Now know I'm dead meat.

All I see is fire as the pain
Begins. My whole body is
Receiving signals from my brain.
All that's left is to pass out.

I burnt the ship and the crew
Just to feel the excitement
Of something I never knew
Could feel so painfully good.
