Three Months Before October Third

Without much contention
it is truly plausible
to believe that ambiguity knows
nothing of two hearts
marching in time.

To love is to only
feign ignorance
in a world of superiority

at a time when ignorance
is the only thing left to
save you from

dejection and redundancy.

But you were oblivious
to fluttering wings,
sparkling rainbows,
and dew-drop roses.

You stood in front
of my life-
disheveled hair and gossamer eyes.

You bombastically claimed
that word, though

I knew better than that.

I was deciduous
to your misshaped empathy.
I will say you tried, but

you cannot force this.

You cannot conscript me
to your ever-loving soul.
That just leads up to

envenoming.

Callous and caustic you
finally ravaged the myths
surrounding your essence-

the abeyance you
believed me to possess.

I knew better than that.

My wings crystallize
as you stare hard-
hardly stare- into my spirit.

My birthday is October third.

But you didn't need to know that.

I absolutely love it. You have a writing style that just flows so beautifully, that I never get tired of reading. That last stanza had to be one of my favourite extracts of the entire piece, and it was pretty damn hard to single anything out.

The only criticism that I have is that you tended to repeat 'soul' very often throughout the poem. I know there isn't really anything you could replace it with, but at times that was the only thing that made it a little repetitive. Although, each image that you incorporated it into was gorgeous.

Hmm. I didn't realize I put soul in there so many times. Okay. I changed it. Is it better?
