Today I pulled on indifference and walked the
hallowed halls of this mall,
temptation island for wealth wasters and time killers.
Shuffling feet and half-lidded countenance crossed my path
with that of an old warrior -

Wizened mouth and crinkled eyes, a
head terrained by gentle bumps and pure white strands;
oddly he held a bald plastic doll in his hands.

With that indifference fled for a one way trip to nowhere.

I looked for telltale signs of pattering soles;
perhaps the grin of a four year old or the
quiet observations of a six.

In their painful absence and my quiet contemplation,

a life story was born: one of lost

youth,
______love,
__________past,
_______________present,
______________________future,
___________________________and hope.

I adored this poem. There was something about it that just echoed everything that I believe.

There's a cynicism and a truth in it that is just incredible.
