Ode to Punchinella

Inspiration:


Weird expression on his face
Is it honour or disgrace?
I despair, for he starts to laugh
A vicious voice sneaks through my head.
His mirror-eyes betray his thoughts:
Deep ideas and distrust.
The bright side of life makes him mad
This world should be more than that!
His sudden grin reveals a notion -
Will he try to get me poisoned??
As I reach to touch his hand,
He exclaims, so I step back.
Just one second, and he's gone,
Vanished in a tide of fog.
In the dark, he leaves me after
With the echoes of his laughter.

It's a very strange poem, but oddly very interesting and good. Although I don't like the rhymes at the beginning. But other than that, it's really good. Especially the last line.
