Apparently someone is suing the heelies company because their kid went to fast on them, went into the road and got run over.

You've got to be kidding me. They weren't responsible and let their kid play near traffic, so they sue the company that makes their toys? Thats so ridiculous.
I agree.
It's like suing Nike for wearing their shoes while you tried to across a 16 lane freeway.

Yeah, I heard it on the radio a few weeks ago.

The suing culture pisses me off...you can't do anything now. All these fucking health and safety rules as well, it's just gone too far.

yeah but sayting that a woman sued mccdonalds because she was driving with her coffee in her lap on a tray, she burnt all her "private bits" so we are now living in a suing age, i myself am suing someone, also yeah the woman suing heelies is silly "dont let your kids near the road with them on" dont they have crossings where they live?

I hate those things. I'll be in a store and little
6 or 7 year olds will come zipping by with those damn shoes.
And no regard for the people around them.
If you wanna wear those shoes to the mall or school, fine. But, you better
have your helmet and knee pads too.

Im just gald that its been aknowledged that they exist.
I thought i was hullucinating when i saw a kid glide past me in the mall. I t was really reall odd.
Quite frankly, the prospect of kids on wheels, scares the hell out of me.

What i dont understand is why you would buy them, if:
a) you're going to take the wheel out of them
b) Its not safe to use them on pavements
c) it's against regulations for them to be used anywhere else.

Of course its not safe, theres an element of danger in anything, I dont understand why people who buy these things aren't able to toughen up and cop a scraped knee.
And, You cant skateboard through your halways at school, you cant take in your pogo stick and jump to the science lab, what made you think you'd be able to whiz through on joggers with wheels? It's ridiculous. I agree with the ban.

Not being able to skate in shopping malls and schools in not a new idea. The ban makes sense.

It just came to me; Yes, mall and school floors are smooth, but also slippry. They wax them, and linoleuim is a lot harder than concrete. Sure, you may not scrape anything, but you'll end up with a lot more bruising.

People want their kids to live in a plastic bubble. It's ridiculous.

I played outside, on pavement, got my share of scraps, cuts and bruises, and surprisesurprise, I lived.

And all of this nonsense about skating inside is ridiculous. Skates of any nature have always been an outdoor thing.

I'd agree with the ban.
If you want them, use them at home or wherever.
But it is a safety hazard to both yourself and the people around you at school and in shopping centres.
Don't inflict what you want on the people around you, be responsible.

I wouldn't know since I have never tried them, (And frankly, have no intention of trying them.) but isn't the shoe function and the size of the wheel designed to limit the risk of loosing control and therefore more convenient for a more formal setting. Forget the fact that it is useless, but is it really as dangerous as rollerblades?

I don't think they're as dangerous as far as speed it concerned, rollerskates generally seem to be designed to be streamlined enough so you can go faster. I think. Shifty But just think, if the wheels are designed differently inside the middle of the shoe, doesn't that make turning harder? I don't know, I've never seen these things and don't intend to try them.

But in a public place, someone might not realise that they have wheels on them and walking straight into someone skating has got to be more dangerous.

But they don't really skate, do they. More like glide. It seems a speed limit might be necessary but that would be too amusing and perposterous to take seriously and might as well just ban them.

But I don't think, if they are controllable, I don't think they are more dangerous than just walking. Between walking into someone with a heely and someone without one, I don't think there's much of a difference.

You wouldn't ride your bike or skateboard around town [not unless you had no respect for other people's safety] so why should you use heelys in a crowded place?

I used to ride my skateboard or my bike into town. I respect other people's safety. What's wrong with riding your skateboard into town. This is a genuine shock to me when I spent my entire childhood thinking it was OK to do that in the city, and all of a sudden being told it isn't. It's like my parents telling me to play in the street and all of a sudden realising you shouldn't.

I want heeeleys!!! when i was at school they where popular and then they went out of fasion now there back in and i fear im maybe a bit old for them Sad

having worked in a super market i can say it gets BLOODY &*&%&%& annoying! lol when the kids wheel up to you and crash into your legs cause they cant stop and crash into shelves sending things flying wizzing round the store and then there are the customer complaints cause they where let in with them.
so i understand why they are banned in stores and i agree with that!

You skated in an indoor shopping centre? Because I can understand if it's on the street because then it's easier to control where you're going and stuff, but inside there are like, really slippery surfaces which could easily make you lose control.

Around where I'm live you have to walk around our shopping centre, and that's always made sense to me Dno

if its an indoor shopping center i would have to agree.. but in town and stopping to carry when your indoors i think is perfectly acceptable.

No I thought you meant outside in general like on the curb. Like you can only skate around your house. I still think that in comparison with skates, heelys are made for indoor use and are safer to use in a mall even on a slippery surface.
