Falling In Love With The Board

Blurring colour with vacancy.
Dancing shadows making theatre acts in the wind,
As fiction bleeds completely into reality.
The road- a mysterious ruby red.
Or is that from me?
The blood of my enemies seeps into the cracks,
Creating patterns and lines unknown to human eyes.
This is how I know the nightmare has begun.
Echos of closing walls start to grow louder,
And I find myself trapped within a corner of disillusion,
Where nothing I see is real, but feels strangely accurate.
Disease creeps through the crevasses of the enclosing barriers,
Obscuring my mind- "Falling, Falling, Deeper, Deeper!"
And as the palms of my hands begin to sweat,
The scenery begins to move.
Sketched back into right places, like a perfect drawing,
It seems too flawless to be true.
It is.
Eyes fly open, and limbs jerk to set my body upright.
There's a bottle still clutched in my hand,
And though my head still spins with fear, I can still realize-
I am never going to escape.
