Honestly, I was so sad when he died in the movie, when I was a kid. I honestly wanted him to live.  Me too secretly.  I like him. He's cool. Even though he kills Simba's father...Which wasn't very nice. I like Jafar in the Aladdin Movies  I always cosidered him innocent, some people thought I was in denial, I wasn't he really is innocent. I mean, that paw slipped, he really was meaning to help. |

Well I'm sure they read it once they got the part. I remember David said he read the books once he was given his role. I think it was in that interview he did with Gary Oldman.
A lot of you probably know a lot better than me though. |

Miserable old git and about as un-Dumbledoreish as it's possible to be (do not start debating who is the better Dumbledore, we've done that before, folks) and was just completely wonderful.
Either way, it wouldn't surprise me if he hasn't read them. |

Even so, the books aren't exactly short, and *does some quick maths* there's about 3,400 pages to read altogether (Brit versions) so you know, it's not unreasonable that they don't. |

No excuses. Well a lot of films are "novel based", even if the novel isn't that famous so I don't think actors have enough time. |
