Oh yeah but Norbert was a bit different, cos we saw him hatch and Hagrid got really attached to him.

She bought Aragog back, and that was a similar sort of thing, got the egg illegally, it hatched, he looked after it for a while and then he had to get it to live somewhere else.

AND Charlie was looking after Norbert, so he's quite trackable.

That reminds me of something my friend said two years ago.

As we all should know, Dudley did not actually "do" Evans, but beat him up. But the kid's last name is Evans. As in Lily Evans.

Possibly connection, but I don't know if there's enough there. I think it's interesting though that its mentioned just as Harry gets whammed back into the wizarding world, with the Dementors and all.

That's a very good theory, maybe Dudley found out about the Evans kid being a wizard so he beats him up.

Well it's never actually said he's the boss at Smeltings. It's said he's the boss of his little gang of friends that hang around the park, but it doesn't say anything about Dudley's school life, really. Apart from when he had to go on the diet cos the school didn't stock knickerbockers big enough for him anymore.

Personally, I don't think so, because Voldemort wanted to come back to find something use for horcruxes, and he hasn't been back since, has he? So I doubt he's hidden any of them away there, and I doubt he made too many while he was still at Hogwarts, because he didn't have the oppurtunity to find out exactly how to do it.

well. i'm going to re-read the series this week anyway, so.

In the fifth book, it's mentioned by Harry that Dudley and his friends beat up a young boy named Mark Evans.

Well it's not really stupid. Evans is a fairly common name, so there will be other people who aren't related to Lily with that name. And also, it means that all us cool kids have lots of theories to discuss before she confirms or...unconfirms any significance.

Even so, another 'Thomas', for example, wouldn't have struck me as much as an 'Evans' because of Lily's incredible importance, though they're both pretty common names. If the kid had no significance whatsoever, why not just give him a random name like everyone else in the books? I can't think of any other doubles who weren't related. D:

Pfft, it's a name, everyone has names. And Lily was muggleborn too, so anyone with the same name as her isn't going to be related, whereas if she were pureblood, and there was another wizard named Evans, then yeah, chances are they'd be related.

I think it's just a case of people geting overly analytical.
