I don't think 13 year old girls should even have sex. It's ok if their parents talk to them about it but still....a bit young age for that.
Now when you mentioned it...I have a friend who got pregnant with her 20 year old boyfriend. She's 15.
I noticed how a lot of people these days start having sex in early age. I read somewhere that most of them start at the age of 16 or 17. Nothing wrong with that,I just think 13 is too young for it.

Well, kids want to be (or rather "look" ) older, very young.
But whatever, yea 13 may sound too young to have sex, but some girls are enough mature in their head to have sex at that age..

True. I just hope they are aware of the risk they're taking. I dont think any of them wants to get pregnant at that age or something.

I'm gonna turn 22 soon and I absolutely don't wanna get pregnant right now..

I would be too shame to tell my mum if i was ever to need the morning after pill.
What's better?
Shame or pregnancy?
Showing your mum you start having sex even though you made a mistake or being parent at the age of 16 and taking on the consequence of the 'mistake'?

why force them to get pregnant?
You yourself insist that these young girls should have the choice of whether to take the morning-after pill, but fail to notice that it was their choice to have sex in the first place. It's not like their parents threw them into bed with a male and no contraception at gunpoint now is it.
I agree with both Cecilia and Mastodon.
If you feel old and mature enough to have sex and risk getting pregnant, then you're old enough to own up to your 'mistakes'.

Plus, it seems a hell of a lot harder to go through pregnancy and raise a child when you're not ready, than just come clean to your parents.

So, what?
It shouldn't be legal at all?

She didn't say that at all. =/

She said that if you're old enough to have sex, you're old enough to have the bollocks to tell your parents about it. What's worse here; as Cecilia pointed out, pregnancy or honesty?

Besides, I don't think anybody is talking about outlawing the pill. We're talking about whether it should be legal to little girls, who are mature in their heads enough to get laid and yet not prepared for the consequences.

Yea but we can't reply with "yes" or "no" only.
We've to explain "why".

Oh my. How on earth do you get that message? The point is that if they're to be frank stupid enough to get pregnant, they should realise that telling their parents is not as bad as having a child that could alter their life forever.

I personally think you aren't looking at it objectively because of your sister's friend. But think about it. Your mum, in helping her, hasn't helped to teach her that her actions have consequences. Everyone needs to learn that.

I got that message because you said this:

If you feel old and mature enough to have sex and risk getting pregnant, then you're old enough to own up to your 'mistakes'.

It, to me, implies that you made a mistake and you should have to deal with the consequences. Taking a pill isn't dealing with those consequences.

And what if the girl's parents aren't willing to buy her the pill? Then what? Tough shit?

The girl's consequence is that she was scared absolutely shitless about getting pregnant. I think that's a pretty decent punishment. There's no guarantee that this pill is going to work with her. If fertilization and implantation already occurred, she's screwed [literally].

Owning up to your mistakes is telling the people who can help you with them about them. Taking the pill indeed does not deal with the consequences of becoming pregnant, but getting someone who is unrelated to your family to get it for you means you don't deal with the consequences of having underage (and I'm guessing) unprotected sex.

If they aren't willing to buy it for her, then they have to struggle with the financial constraints of another child in their household. Kids aren't cheap. Parents aren't that sadistic.

Wow she's scared. Kids are scared of the dark. Fear stops. And she could end up making the same mistakes all over again.

Err. She could get an abortion, maybe?

Unless that teenager is also a porn star, or approves voyeurism, I don't think that's right.

Parents aren't that sadistic.

You'd be surprised.
Midwest mentality is that if you open your legs, you have the kids.
Lots of parents here wouldn't buy the pill for their kids.

OK, seeing that I have a lot of personal experience on this subject, I thought I should share.

I started having sex when I was thirteen. Unprotected. But I was always careful, and nothings ever gone wrong to this day. I don't think I was ever lucky, I just knew what I was getting into and new the necessary precautions to make sure I didn't end up in a situation I couldn't handle. My parents found our I was having sex when I was fourteen. It's as bad as the worst arguement you've ever had with anyone, times a hundred. I managed to reduce my whole family to tears within ten minutes. Though I'd never want to repeat the process again, I will admit, when the shock is gone, they can be really helpful. Soon my parents were allowing 'hanky panky' so long as I didn't get 'preggers'.

Any girls parents will take any measure to ensure that their girl doesn't get pregnant, so family is always a good option even if it's not the easiest.

And so are crippled with the financial problems of a child to support in their household. The mentality behind it is a sensible one as to try and deter their children from having unprotected sex, but it is fundamentally flawed.

If you're too scared to ask your parents for the morning after pill because you don't want them to find out, isn't it gunna be a bit obvious that you've had sex in nine months anyway?

And by that time, they'd have wished you told them anyway. Like I said, it's not the easiest option, but it is the best.

I'm a virgin so there's no reason for them to buy me the pill.
And I'm a lesbian so when I have sex there's not going to be a reason to get the pill.

I sorta meant for your sister, since I know you're a lesbian.
