This sci-fi show, concerning the ever-mysterious "Doctor" and his time travels, began in 1963. It ran for 26 seasons on British television until 1989, then was re-launched in March 2005. During it's many years of airing, the show gained something of a cult status, with astonising numbers switching on for both the first episode and the re-launch.
The Doctor is a "Timelord", which, if means nothing to you then..(You're on teh wrong thread =P) here's a quick bit- he comes from a different planet- once full of those like him, but, it was destroyed, and he is the last known surviving of his kind. A time lord's mission is travel to many variations of space and time- using the "Tardis" (it looks like a phonebox) to conquer the threats that lie there. Doctor who is indeed famous for it's many monsters and villians, the most rememberable and still-present being the plunger-poking dalek. There has been 10 doctors in all, and the current doctor is played by actor David Tennant. Along with him comes his companion, who helps him in his travels. Current is Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman).
