| Peardrops Falling In Love With The Board Age: 19 Gender: Female Posts: 9434 ![]() | Well. I absolutely loved it. It was so funny, mother and I were leaning on each other in tears at one point - when they turned Don Adriano's profession of love into that rap, omg. And sorry, but the King and his Lords as Russians? Wtf was that? LOL. David was fantastic as Berowne, he definately captured the sarcasm and wit - and his drunken swagger at the start was brilliant. I think my favourite part for him was when he did the big speech about how he'd been betrayed by The King, Longaville and Dumaine because they'd fallen in love and then Jaquenetta turns up with the letter Berowne had written confessing his own love LOL. When he tried to do a runner, omg, I was laughing so bad. However, I do have to say that I thought Joe Dixon completely outshone EVERYONE in this play. He camped up Don Adriano so well, he was definately the funniest character in the entire thing. I loved his mispronunciations: "Help me! I need your ass!" .... "Assistance!" ![]() Afterwards, well. I can see now what the Hamlet crowd meant when they said you have to absolutely run like fuck in order to meet David. I got to the stage door in time to hear him say: "That's all now, thanks!" So like, well fuck. Nevermind though, I hung around a bit after Amanda departed with her friend, talking to the women who were also hanging around. There was this group of them near me like: "Oh, i'm so glad all the stupid teenagers have fucked off now, they're so annoying. All they want is David." And then they noticed me standing next to them and they were like, "I bet you want to meet David." And I looked at them for a second and said: "Actually, i'm rather hoping to meet joe Dixon. I thought he played a fantastic Don Adriano." And they shut up immediately HAHA in your FACE. Then Joe Dixon actually walked out and I was watching him and mother came up behind me and was like "Go talk to him then!" And pushed me forwards, so I got propelled out of this crowd of women towards this poor bloke who looked at me like O.o, so I smiled and said: "Hello! You were the best in the whole thing!" And he put the box he was carrying down and was all: "Awww, that's so sweet! Thank you so much!" And then he noticed my programme and asked if I wanted him to sign it, so I said yes and we had a chat as he did. He's so lovely. (He's from Silent Witness and Criminal Minds, if you're wondering.) But no David, which is a shame. Nevermind though, the play was fantastic and seemed to have half the Doctor Who extras in it ![]() |
| Angelic Fruitcake Falling In Love With The Board Age: 18 Gender: Female Posts: 5136 | I agree completely Corinne, it was utterly brilliant. Having not read the entire thing beforehand and only brushing up with a short synopsis of it, I was slightly apprehensive, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the wit and excitement of it. And the gorgeousness of the language was lovely, despite (and I'm not ashamed to admit this) after a couple of speeches thinking 'what?!', and my mind running in Shakespearian English afterwards for a few hours. Honestly. I had to think about what I was going to say about ten minutes before I said it to avoid sounding abit odd. There's not alot I can say in regards to the play, you've said it all, really. That scene you mentioned especially, I was in fits. ![]() Nice Russian accents, ahah. I'm sure there was a couple of other things, I'll remember eventually. Not that I needed it, but personally, David's performance was proof as to just how bloody good he is. Like everything else I've seen him, he completely embraced his character, and it's wonderful to see. Quite honestly, seeing the man I have such respect and admiration for doing what he does best- literally right in front of me- pretty much made my year. I agree, Joe Dixon was hilarious, although I did spent abit of time aswell watching Zoe Thorne (Moth) aswell, I thought she was very good (Imdb is telling me she's 6 years older than me though, really?!, ahem). I think Nina Sosanya is brilliant (I remembered her from Casanova, aha), and Kathryn Drysdale did very well (she's that squeaky one from Two Pints : P). Lots of talent. I know what you mean about all the Doctor Who extras, though, we were sat leafing through our programmes like 'She's been in it...she has...oh! he hasn't!' ![]() Being in the front row was fantastic (nice view of actor's spit from our spot : P), and the set was lovely. Overall, last night made for a very happy Amanda. My god though, women like those you met frustrate me. As did all the shameless milking of David's Doctor Who fame in the chippy down the road, it was so tasteless. Yes, the main reason I came all the way down there was to see him perform, but I don't for a minute think my reasons are unjust. Besides that, by the end of the play, he wasn't the only actor I wanted to congratulate. ![]() There's some more photos up on his website, by the way. Aww, he's a slender little thing even more so in the flesh. |

Tennant stepped into the Tardis in 2005, and will leave the role after four special episodes are broadcast next year. He made the announcement after winning the outstanding drama performance prize at the National Television Awards. "When Doctor Who returns in 2010 it won't be with me," he said. "Now don't make me cry," he added. "I love this part, and I love this show so much that if I don't take a deep breath and move on now I never will, and you'll be wheeling me out of the Tardis in my bath chair." 'I'll miss it' Three years was "about the right time" to play the role, he told the BBC in an exclusive interview. "I think it's better to go when there's a chance that people might miss you, rather than to hang around and outstay your welcome," he said. I don't ever want it to feel like a job, so I want to move on when it still feels exciting and fresh David Tennant His stint in the show had been "the most extraordinary time, it's been bewildering, life changing, very exciting", he said. "And just so much fun, such a great show to work on. "That's one of the reasons I think it's right to take a deep breath and bow out when it's still fun, when it's a novelty. "I don't ever want it to feel like a job, so I want to move on when it still feels exciting and fresh and that means I'll miss it." Drama award Tennant, the 10th actor to play the Doctor Who, left fans guessing about his return at the end of the latest series. David Tennant beat co-star Catherine Tate at the National Television Awards In the last episode, in July, the Doctor had to defeat his enemies the Daleks to save the universe. Almost 10 million people watched as the Time Lord apparently started the process of regeneration - but did not complete it. Tennant will appear in a Christmas special, titled The Next Doctor, before filming four more specials in January. "They'll be the four last stories that I do," he said. In a sign of his popularity, he was voted best drama performer in a public vote at the National Television Awards. He has been named most popular actor at the same ceremony for the past two years. That prize has been discontinued this year. An average of 8.1 million people a week watched the latest series - the fourth since it made a comeback in 2005 - in its Saturday evening slot on BBC One. 'Spectacular' exit Russell T Davies, executive producer, said: "I've been lucky and honoured to work with David over the past few years - and it's not over yet, the Tenth Doctor still has five spectacular hours left! "After which, I might drop an anvil on his head. Or maybe a piano. A radioactive piano. But we're planning the most enormous and spectacular ending, so keep watching." David Tennant has recently acted with the Royal Shakespeare Company A fifth series of the show is scheduled for 2010. Tennant replaced Christopher Eccleston, who resurrected the show after a 16-year break. Tennant made his name in TV dramas such as Blackpool and Casanova. He started his career in theatre and in recent months has returned to the stage with well-received performances in Hamlet and Love's Labour's Lost for the Royal Shakespeare Company. In December last year, Tennant denied rumours that he was planning to quit after Catherine Tate - his new companion in the Tardis - told the Jonathan Ross radio show she thought the next series of Doctor Who would be Tennant's last. He said at the time: "Catherine Tate stitched me up good and proper. She goes on Jonathan Ross and makes up a load of old nonsense." |
