The Never-ending Story

It's still under the editing process, but I'm REALLY liking this right now and am definately looking forward to any feedback or constructive criticism. =]

"The Never-Ending Story"
His sixteenth was all but sweet
Love and heartbreak...a tortuous feat.
He knew something special would come along.
Waiting just seemed way too long.

She lived her years through all of the tears.
Love was nothing, in fact one of her fears.
All she wanted was her perception to change,
For someone to come and sweep her away.

They both felt so alone with no place to call home.
In a large place so crowded and cold.
A few days a week, glances exchanged
Nothing then would ever be the same.

A window to the world opened their eyes.
And let them see straight through all of the lies.
The waiting was over, past perceptions blurred.
On a date one day that gave them the world.

They wanted it to last a lifetime.
But eventually it was left behind.
Six long months they patiently waited.
Each wondered if their feelings have faded.

The following January was cold.
The feelings realized were never old.
Another date after winter vacation
Brought a first kiss and a new salvation.

Now the story's not close to ending.
It is still only the beginning.
These two...forever...everyone will see.
These two...forever...always you and me.
