Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 16175 | July 1st, 2007 at 07:31pm I've been playing for nearly two years. The Marshall MG15CD is.. not working out anymore.
I'm looking for a good practice amp. No need for anything gig-worthy, really. Just some good jamming. I'm guessing 30 watts or something should be good enough.
Willing to spend a few hundred bucks.
Don't know where to start. Been hearing about Roland Cubes and Vox Valvetronix and such.
Anyone have anything to say? Any input / opinions appreciated.
Err. If style matters any, I'd be mostly playing alternative / indie. |

 | July 4th, 2007 at 06:58pm Do what the people say and go for a valve. They are very useful to have.
You could probably part-exchange your old amp in for one to lower the price a bit. |

I want a practice amp that I could do some pretty loud jamming with my friends with. I currently have a 15 watt amp, and when I turn it up enough to get over the drums, it starts sounding really bad. *shrug* |

Age: - Gender: - Posts: 16 | August 11th, 2007 at 08:03am I have a fender Jr. tubed amp. It's around 30 watts, I think. It's only a clean amp, but it gets REALLY loud. I only have to turn it up to 4 when I'm jamming with my band. I didn't think it would be that loud when I bought it, but it's cool. I can even play gigs with it, it's so loud. It distorts a little when you get up to 10, but that's just the tubes overdriving. |

I don't recommend this one if you're doing anything but playing pretty music. |

It doesn't have a distortion switch, though. You have to mess around with the knobs and dials to get distortion, but when you get it right, it sends a great sound. They have a lot of gain. I've never bought any other amps, but I seriously recommend Peavey. |
