Darkness.
Soundless.
A movement.
Heartbeat.
Steady,
like the pace of a drum.
Flickers.
Pictures.
Memories,
filling the silence,
decreasing the emptiness.
Helplessness,
like screaming without a voice.
At the brink of panic.
Tossing,
turning,
just below the surface.
Trapped
in echoes of the past in the night.
Sleep,
sleep.
It’s just a dream.
Want to forget.
Can I forgive?
Will it be over
or do the past
has a nasty habit
of repeating itself?
Hush,
sleep,
this time it’s just a dream.
It’s been too long since I last posted a poem here. Problem is that I can’t seem to be creative during summer. Oh, well, it’s autumn now so let’s hope for the best… |

That part really stands out to me as being about shell shock. The rest of the poem is a great description of what night terrors can be like. Great job! |

As for the rest of the comment: thank you very much Shell shock is a slang term for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. |
