The Doors were an influential American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles by vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, drummer John Densmore, and guitarist Robby Krieger. They were a controversial band, due mostly to Morrison's cryptic lyrics and unpredictable stage persona. The band dissolved in 1972, one year after Morrison's death in 1971. According to the RIAA, they have sold over 32 million albums in the US alone. Smiley

Too be honest, I'm not a huge fan. OK, actually I don't really like them at all. I don't know why. A lot of people think they are one of the greatest bands ever. I don't disagree with those people though. I guess The Doors just aren't me.

I've liked 'em alright for a while, but I didn't start listening to them a lot until just a couple months ago.

me and my boyfriend were playing GTA 4 and we needed some music, so we decided on the doors greatest hits. Great choice. cause now I'm in love with it. :]

The Doors are just fantastic. I can't get enough of their music. The way the keyboard is synced to the music sounds amazing.

I think this thread desperately needs resurrected.

I've only just discovered the Doors--like, a couple nights ago. My friend made me a mix CD of their stuff about a year ago; I listened to parts of it at the time and wasn't that into it...but the other night I decided only semi-randomly to give them another shot.

And my god, am I glad I did...

Well, I was at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame a few weeks ago for my birthday, and naturally there was a Morrison exhibit...I just glanced through it at the time because of my aforementioned friend--when she found out I was going, she said I ABSOLUTELY needed to see what Doors stuff was there, just for her. So I did. There were some pages of handwritten lyrics, of course, and I read a few lines of one of them...and I'd heard Jim Morrison was a brilliant lyricist, but it was only then that I recognized him for the poet that he was. So I listened to the CD.

And I'm absolutely in love. Ghost Song gave me chills, and after it was over I spent literally half an hour looking for a tiny screwdriver so I could replace the batteries in my fiber optic lamp. It was just one of those songs that made me want to turn out the lights and watch some trippy colours do weird stuff. xD

I need to get back to the Rock Hall and look more closely at his things. Now that I actually care and all. And it's only about two hours away...
