Well, there are ups and downs about living in the city, everybody knows that.

yeah, one of my friend's here just adores Scotland and wants to live in Perthshire, which is quite isolated. Its funny cause its the complete opposite to the Scotland that I love!

I don't know, maybe things will change when I'm older but I just love the energy and the atmosphere in major cities. I like all the activity and the can-get-anthing-at-any-time thing. I even like what most people would call the negatives, the noise at night, the crime rate...

Ok, maybe the pollution I could live without but I can deal

I live right outside of a major city, yes, Massachusetts has three, thank you very much! Cheese (You wouldn't believe how many people think Massachusetts has only Boston as a major city) So, I can get what I need, which is perfectly fine for me. I don't really need excess amount of crap lying around, although my parents would say otherwise, but I am downsizing on the amount of clothes I have and etc. So, I'm doing my best.

I hate pollution in the cities, it bugs me. Surprisingly, Boston is cleaner than New York City and Los Angeles...

I'd actually love to go and I think I am venturing out to Seattle in August. I think I could live there. You never know.... But I do love the country... I feel most at home in a wide open space like Colorado!

I figured that MA would have more than one big city (passed a few on my way to Boston) but couldn't name any of them I'm afraid

Not even necessary a major city - I love Glasgow and now Brno which only have about 2 million people but they are still fantastic cities. But Brno gets virtually NO crime, seriously. Traffic offenses are the worse thing that happens here! I'd love to live here again but I'd have no work haha

But Manhattan, I just can't express how much I adored every second in New York.

Seriously?
You just want a hunk load of crime! That's not very nice! Or peaceful!
But, I guess next time, consider going off to Peru or Chile, South America is heavy on crime... (sex rings, drug deals, murder, etc.)

But if there was no crime I'd be unemployed and then I would go hungry...haha

New York has enough crime to keep me busy while I can live in a nice, safe part. Although I wouldn't mind living in Harlem - nice place, during the day at least

My boyfriend grew up in Harlem, you don't want to live there... even during the day. It's a really tough spot. If I were you, I'd live in Brooklyn and commute in..

And besides, we haven't heard of a serial killer in Boston, NYC, or any city for a while now... I know they're there, but once something like that happens, the whole nation knows... and it has been years since we've seen something like that. Yes, there are murders and dead bodies from suicides, but that's more frequent than a serial killer....
the worst thing we've had this year is the oil spill in the Gulf and this new Tylanol story..

Yes, serial kills are rare but common homicides are frequent enough in NY. I want to specialise in forensic serology (body fluids) so I'd deal with asualts and rapes as well as homicides

I've been to Harlem, I liked it. I was also in Brooklyn, it was nice, I love the old brownstone houses but I think looking over at the Manhatten skyline would just taunt me haha

Well, yeah there's that stuff too. I though you wanted to specialize more along the lines of murders and random killings..

To be quite honest, I wouldn't get your hopes up of finding a job in New York. The economy is so bad here. You really have no idea until your living in NYC. I've heard that people with degrees in Criminal Justice and Forensics are having the worst time finding jobs because there really is no one retiring or no openings. You'd be better off working in Europe first....

Oh, I know that. I think I'll have to work in London first because in the UK the met seem to be the only police force with frequent openings.

My ultimate goal would be to work for the FBI, that's like my dream job but I realise that it's waaaaaayyyyy down the line.

I think eventually I would like to land up back in Scotland, probably retire there but I'd kinda like to see a lot of the world first. I'm not really fussed where I land up, I'll go wherever the work is - borders are no barries for me haha!

It's much easier in the EU because citizens of member nations don't need visa to work and live in other member nations. Plus there is a standardisation - my UK qualification automatically qualifies me to work anywhere in the EU

Well, just as long as you realize the reality of working in the US, it's really difficult! Even for me right now, there are no job openings anywhere! Which is why I'm bored out of my mind.
Yeah, babysitting is a biggy... but everyone could do that.

I'm hoping though that this recession came at the right time for me. I still have a year till I graduate and then I want to do a postgrad, so hopefully by the time I'm done with all that the economy will have picked up.

The US is an eventually for me. The real plan is to become a renowned expert in my field so that people want to hire me! Plus I have some contacts in the LAPD and also in Tennessee
