Yeah...I'm going to learn drums and right now I'm saving up for drums because my mom said she doesn't have enough for drums so I'm saving up, anyways, I need to know what kind of drums and stuff and what is the usual price for drums

it depends on what kit you want but, i suggest the cheapest u can possibly find, or a second hand kit. get a standard 5 piece kit (3 toms, snare and bass drum) hi hats are important but as a beginner it doesnt matter what price they are. a crash and ride cymbal are good to have to learn versatility around the kit. but you may hav to pay alil extra for them plus the hareware (stands) you can get a kit from about £200 (not sure in dollars). dont worry about brands when your a beginner.

it doesnt really matter but dont expect to get a perl or anything. you'll be saving up for ages. i have a second hand aria (think that's the make) and i got it for about £150. they had shitty cymbals but i replaced them first. the drum skins need tightening but meh, blow it they still work well enough.

my cousin got a set of drums for his bday. they were 499.99$ (Canadian)
he forgot to take price tag off. they play real nice but i think are very fragile. the plastic things you bang on already have a bunch of marks in em and he's only had em for like a month. not sure if its normal i play guitar not drums. there by Viper, he has a bass drum, two pan lid things that make a lot of noise (one of em has a pedal) and he has a thing with little chain things under which u can loose to do drum rolls, or other way around. he also has 3 thing a ma bobs that are like normal drums. i think its a bice price and its a shiney nice finish red paint (real cool)

Well I use one of those crappy electric drum kit thingys with the rubber pads for the drums and cymbals ><, you can attach them to headphones or amps and stuff and play to songs. But it feels different to a real kit, VERY DIFFERENT, and some of them have too much bounce to it when you hit....makes me wrists tired. My dad got mine, secondhand, for about 100,000 Yen...in dollars that's supposed to be about 850 dollars?

If you're in for REAL practice and a REAL drum kit(which I want but I can't because I live in an apartment and the ol' grouch upstairs will skin me if I start to drum in the middle of the night), get a real set. Something affordable could be a Slingerland Tre Cool Model Spitfitre (it's a 4-piece), it's supposed to be 955 dollars or something. Or a secondhand kit. And yup like someone said, get yourself a hi-hat first, then add on more cymbals.

Btw, I'm an amateur on drums, with someone better than me always taking my place in my school jazz band, that's how bad and unconfident I am (I'm trying to change though), so sorry if this info doesn't help...><

exactly! i'm not that great of a drummer to begin with but damn those drumsets are expensive. like for guitar we have to change strings once in awhile which is like 10 bucks for all the strings. but for drums the skinds cost loads more. and for more cost, it's good to add cymbals which is a lot more money. oh man, drumsets are expensive =P

Yeah, but when you're just starting out, you don't need expensive cymbals and all that shit. My first kit cost me £50 second hand. Once I got into it, I didn't mind paying more for a new kit. And I didn't get a ride cymbal til like 2 years down the line.

I got mine for £48 off ebay, =). I concentrate on guitar so im not bothered about the quality of my kit, and it means we can jam at two different places.

I'm actually considering upgrading my kit, i mean the one i have at the moment is pretty poor (performance percussion). But i don't want to spend too much money as i concentrate on guitar, so could anyone recommend a decent 2nd, or intermidiate, drum kit for round about £300-£500. thanks.
