What do you think about the fact that footballers are paid millions every month, yet my friend desperatly needs her tonsils out, but she has to wait 6 weeks for the NHS.
Do you think more money should be given to things like the NHS? And spend more on the country, putting EFFORT into anti-litter campaigns and so on? Or should they carry on giving fuck loads of money to the rich and famous?

I think a lot more money should be put into things such as the NHS and the fire stations/police stations etc etc.

I must correct you there, Alex. It's more like 20,000 per week (Although many earn up to 120,000). Footballers aren't paid with government money, the money comes from independant broadcasting companies (Namely Sky). They are paid obscene amounts, yes.

But I do agree, more should be spent on the NHS et cetera. But what can be done that isn't happening already?. It is plain and simple to see that more funds should become available, but how?. As an idealist myself, the whole thing greatly appeals to me. The NHS has also undergone many chages in recent years (setting up the Primary Care Trusts, which are soon going to be removed, I believe). Funds can't keep pouring in, no matter how much it is needed.

Yes. I think that too. There is so many famous people and everything they do is spending money on parties or jewellerly. They have too much money, I think. That's unfair. I respect generous famous people (like Angelina Jolie, Bill Gates etc). But everyone send money to Africa or Asia and they don't think about people, who need money in their country.

You had the right idea. It's sad that your friend can't have her tonsils out. It's like the fact I need new glasses (my eyesight is very poor, and has recently deteriorated), but I have to wait two years until I can get another free pair (and even then I have to pay for 20% of them). My opticians say I need new ones, or it will just get worse, but at the same time they tell me I can't have new ones.

No, I can't afford to pay the £250+ they will cost. Neither can the NHS. Hence why I must wait for another two years before recieving them. The frames are relatively cheap, the lenses are the expensive part.

Wow thats weird, its the exact opposite over here, lenses are only about 30 euros but the frames cost up to 500

That's weird
I have really bad eyesight! REALLY BAD.
I'm 16. And my glasses, lenses included were £93.
My contacts were £45 for three months.
That really does make no sense.

It's because my eyes are well and truly fucked. I need a special prescription. I'm also adding on the fact that in two years I'll be 16, and can't claim as much off them. Or so I'm told by my optician...

I do though, I've got a stigmatism.
Have you got a 2nd opinion?

I don't know what that is...They don't let me in on what's wrong with me or what's on my paperwork until I'm 16. I don't know....Perhaps they're overcharging me?. I really hope they aren't but, £200-250+ was definately the estimate I was given.

I don't have a problem with how the spend their money, it is theirs and its none of our business.
I just really bad for the Gaelic football players, they do just a hard if not enough harder that the soccor players but the don't get paid. Not one cent they play for love of the sport and try their best to win games for their county on sundays, but the rest of the week they have to go to work and earn their livings.

6 weeks to wait for an operation isnt actaully that bad, some people can wait years for things like hip replacements and i can sympathyze with your friend because having tonsilitus does hurt. I was on the waiting list for my operation for 3 years. (and that was an urgent waiting list)
