*Blue Star*-Buggerr You:
Christmas never meant much to me. You can call me selfish or sad...call me what you will but the only fun I get out of Christmas is receiving and giving presents.

Same with me.

Pffft christmas has always been commercialized. Sure the baby Jesus was only just born when the three wise men came rushing in going "oh look what I got you"

lmfao

You just made my day.

Know Your Rights:
Sorry if this is stupid, duplicate or whatever, but seeing as Christmas is now only 2 days away, I thought this should be mentioned.

Should agnostics celebrate christmas??

Nearly everyone in my school doesn't believe in God, or Jesus, or have a religion, yet they all celebrate Christmas.

Is that not selfish, because after all, Christmas is about the birth of Jesus right? Not presents, and big dinners etc...

Your thoughts and opinions??

why the fuck shouldnt we? i mean it is a time when whole famillies who wouldnt other wise see each toher can get together, and even if its all pretend for a short period every one is happy and gets on! now why should that be questioned? i think it is selfish to say that every one else shouldnt celebrate it. Christmas is no longer about the birth of some baby, whos wasnt even born in December, it is about coming together showing love and gratitude towards one another..no one on this earth should be excluded from the joys of christmas. its a time of joy. and as incubus said the first thign the wise men did was bow down and give this little kid PRESENTS so now tell me its not just about the presents and shit.

I think that Athiests shouldn't celebrate Christmas. Most people really think of Christmas as if it's all about it the presents and stuff... It's not about the birth of Christ anymore really... Everyone celebrates it in different ways though... I would personally like it to be based on Christ more... Even though I'm not a Christian.
But it's not like it's going to change so that's it's just being celebrated for the Birth Of Christ. Everyone can celebrate it anyway they want really. Christians can celebrate it about the birth of Christ, and other people can just buy presents for their family and cook big dinners... Whatever. It's really all commercialised now anyway...

Just because I don't believe in God doesn't mean I don't believe in Jesus. Cool

Atheism is the disbelief in or denial of the existence of God(s).

What about Agnostics, where do they fit in?

An agnostic does not deny the existence of God but holds that one cannot know for certain whether or not he/she/it exists.

O_O Gooood Point. Well... I think it's all right for Agnostics to celebrate Christmas... Well, actually I don't have a reason... But Christmas now a days is just celebrated for ... GAH.. I can't explain it. >.< But Christmas now is mainly just about the presents and whatever people want to celebrate Christmas for... so really I think it's alright for Agnostics to celebrate Christmas...

I celebrate the spirit of Christmas. Everybody acting in a spirit of goodwill, love, and brotherhood. I believe that these feelings should be expressed year-round, if at all possible, but I'll take a month or two.

christmas , however based on the birth of christ , is not celebrated just celebrated by christians. Christ message when he was born was that we should share and enjoy our friends and family and love each other, hence the shepards and the wise men celebrating with complete strangers in the love of the messiah. And although we may not believe in christ or god or we do not deny or whatever else. its message still lives strong to this day. that is what christmas is about

nowadays people care mostly about the presents and the dinners and the traditional activities, people dont even know the REAL meaning of christmas, and if they do they say "o ya jesus was born" they dont say why or how. i celebrate christmas as a christian but i also think that the joy should be shared with the world...so i guess its ok

** when i say people, i mean general society, not EVERYONE, because i KNOW that there are people who know what theyre talking about....no offense to ANYONE

The Japanses celabrate X-Mas, most Japanses are Buddist or Shintos or Buddist/Shintos. only a really small % of them are Christians. They celabrate the more secular side of X-mas.

I celebrate it because my whole family does and Its not fair on them for me to not take part in it. They go to all the effort to cook me Christmas dinner, buy me cards and gifts and spend all day with me. I'm not going to throw it all back in their faces.
