| Kurtni Admin  Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289   | I was watching the News and In Texas, they were talking about Public intoxication laws being enforced. I personally felt they went from one extreme to the other. Before, drunk driving was not strick enough. Now, people in Bars (not driving, or they might not even have car keys in their possession) were getting arrested for being intoxicated. One of the stories I watched was this girl at her bachlorette party. They had a designated driver picked out and everything, but because she was publically intoxicated, she was arrested and spent the night in jail with some hefty fines. Also, imagine how this hurts Bar owners business. People arent going to go to a bar where they think they will get arrested for having a few to many drinks. That would result in the bar losing money. Believe me, I am totally against drunk driving, and I think it should be prevented, but I thought that was a little bit ridiculous. Alcohol is served in a Bar, so of course there will be intoxicated people, it's just foolish to create issues, which could lead to bigger problems. Drunk Driving is stupid and ignorant, but should an entrire group of people be punished for some peoples actions? I think this is a bad way to solve a big problem, what do you guys think? |

I think, seeing as how it's the LAW, most people will believe anything that is presented by it. Liek when the law in the 1400s and 1500s was slaughtering people in public for stealing a peice of bread...people thought that was just punishment. But then again, they probably didn't have any other options, being it the 1400s-1500s. I think the more a system does something, the more they think it's okay. And the more they think it's okay, the harsher it will be. Sooner or later, everyone could be okay with it... That was hideously offtopic, but I wanted to say it. |

| righteous whammy barrage Shoot Me, I'm A Newbie Age: - Gender: - Posts: 53 | cops round here are even worse. down round NoPo, if you get pulled over by a cop they'll plant stuff in your car if you let them search it. they aint even allowed to search it they have to have a warrant, but people are stupid and afraid of cops so they let them search their cars. in New Town, one day they'll be people on the street sellin crack with cops just on the other side of the road not doing a thing, but then the next day they'll just see a "suspcious looking man" (meaning a black guy) and they'll start searching him and the dude usually winds up getting arrested. and hell man down in L. City there were the Liberty City Riots back in 1980, because of police brutality against black people. 4 police officers had beaten a black man to death, and the jury didn't find them guilty of the charges they were pressed with. that started the riots. as to the thing about public intoxication or whatever? yeah it's shady so you can't really tell around here. I live in V-Town but there are different sections, there's a relatively "good" section where there's a bunch of condos and old people, I live around the badder part. so far I haven't been ARRESTED, but I've been brought home by cops 7 times. a few times for drug/booze stuff. the last time I was brought home by a cop was because I was caught with a bottle of Jack's, and a pack a smokes. (hahahahahahahahaha the smokes were actually blunts but the cops was stupid) the cops were ok about it though because they just took the shit away and made sure I actually went into my house, they didn't tell on me to my parents. Big Brother is watching you: fight the system. |
