Love-letters rage the sweetest inferno with dreams scorched in raptured plumes of smoke. Powdered nothings are a romantic's nicotine. Set a match to the end and the world goes down in smog. And we'll crack flares against the hollow depths of our hearts, just so we can peer through the gothic suicide we've substitued for affection. Drowning in technicolour, rainbow kaleidscopes of peacock tendencies, we'll love the colours, not the feelings. The ego, not the heart claiming emotions were always that mini dress decades out of date to fit anymore, gaping around our ankles like a promise that was shed in teardrop fits with innocence. It makes me think that the poets are snorting amphetimine dreams when I read their yarns of lyrical tapestry maintaining this delusioned deception of fate. Shakespeare's whores drown themselves in vials of metaphorical screens of reality, painted in brushstrokes of fabrications. Hearts were moulded to be broken and love was just the palpitation of a dreamer's heart. Because passion died with a sob-shaped kiss on Juliet's lips. Press yours against hers and the concotion tastes strangely like your demise. Mirrors and whirlpools inspire Narcissus aspirers to grow like ivy in our midst. Personal incest with our own reflection and that's the closest we'll get to love. We can always dream of something deeper but we'll only strike the realm of nightmares in our eager attempt to be more than minions to our own desire. Dipping the tips of our crumbling affection in petroleum puddles for purity. It may just be possible to form pyromaniac beauty from conceited dregs of vanity. |
