You felt the warmth of her elderly body
Wrinkled, cold, old and wobbly
The comfort of the scent of dust and perfume
Looking back on it, it all ended too soon
The way she looked at you with pure love in her heart
You never knew how it would end or start
But you never wanted it to end this way
How it all came crashing down one day
You don’t know what to believe
It’s so dark you hardly see
Staring back at tragedies
You realize
Everything is a memory
You saw the pictures on the TV set
Pictures you would love to soon forget
War and hate in this world we live in
The pressure doubles and the people give in
Don’t you remember the way it was
Innocent and care free just because
We didn’t have to worry about all this stress
But the past is over and we’ve failed our test
You don’t know what to believe
It’s so dark you hardly see
Staring back at tragedies
You realize
Everything is a memory
You stared up at them with big brown eyes
It wasn’t your job to realize
When he stared at her with eyes of the same color
He was truly thinking about someone other
She found out and you heard the yelling
Shouts from their room and there was no telling
This ended more than just the marriage they had
It ended your life with a mom and dad
You don’t know what to believe
It’s so dark you hardly see

You look to your left and you see the I.V.
Your daughter’s in the corner with a magazine
She stares up at you and there’s a tear in her eye
And your mind wanders and you wonder, why?
Your heart rate on the screen seems to be fine
But slowly and slowly it’s becoming a line
You hear the horns of heaven and you finally see
Now even you are a memory
You don’t know what to believe
