 | July 21st, 2006 at 08:16pm Okay-I wrote this song because I was in Manhattan today and I saw this homeless girl on a corner and we were dress really really similarly and it was kind of eye-opening. She was about my age too. So that's the literal meaning behind this, but I tried to do this metaphorically. Please let me know if it worked!

The cracks in the sidewalk led back to my feet

Our eyes never met, but it was staring me down

I couldn't respond with my conscience around

Than it did before
