Something a little different from what I usually write. I thought I'd experiment.

This is probably going to be the last poem you're going to read from me for a while. I'm going on holiday for two weeks to Portugal from tomorrow. I'll miss you guys so much!

Give Me The Hard Goodbye, Honey. I Can Take The Pain.

Tear drops on windowsills.
I miss you's scribed in snow.
Footsteps reluctant in doorways.
Empty suitcases and sob-clogged eyes.
The epitome of goodbyes in a stuttered farewell.

Distance was never much of a companion for us.
Hug-torn pillows for imaginary consolation and
it doesn't even come close to the real thing.
Leave your memories beneath the pillows even if
your head no longer dents them with sleep anymore.
Sell me just one dream and maybe I'll sleep on it.
Keep your shoes underneath the bed next to the photos;
make me believe that you're going to walk back in.
Vagrants go barefooted and lovers go empty-hearted.
This is the way that the world proves us as fools.

Send me postcards from ignorance and I'll frame them
for rememberance when reminiscing becomes over-written.
Clichéd heartbreak and I'm trying to be the rebel with a smile.
I'd tell you that I love you but there are tears in my voice.
And this isn't the way that I wish you'd remember me; vague,
tear-written and trembling with withdrawal but I'm missing you
already and you're still stood in front of me that word in your eyes.

Salted kisses for keepsakes.
Eyes clamped from cascading emotions.
Uncreased sheets on your side of the bed.
A lonely silhouette on the kitchen wall.
The little things that keep me insane.

Experiment successful! I love that one so much I can't even find the words. Oh wait, I've got that one Ellen made up. Humdinging. Yes, it was humdinging.

Have a great time in Portugal, you lucky duck! Very Happy

Thank you, darling.
Be sure to write yarns of poetic beauty for me to read when I get back.
I think I'll have to camp out for two days to read all I've missed.

You just know that by the time you come back, the poetry forum will be in complete disarray. Very Happy

I love it. I like the short, stabbing sentences that begin and complete the poem, but I especially loved; 'I miss you's scribed in snow. Footsteps reluctant in doorways'.
