Though I doubt most people remember me. So, I was inspired by an episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion. The one after he has to kill Kaworu and then goes like insane. So... Here. Read it. *** Who? Who am I? I am the very last leaf remaining on the tree When the cold has long ago begun When every other leaf has fallen I remain alone, with my stem firmly attached to the tree from whence I grew In the late autumn, I am the last to fall In the winter, I am the flower hidden by snow Left to be stepped upon by children frolicking To be left as only the memory of a beautiful rose Who? Who am I? I am the very last firefly in the night When the dawn is near approaching When every other insect has hidden the beauty of its light I remain alone, as the very last to extinguish it’s light To guide you along for the last hours Until the sun rises in the sky Left to hide my light to make room for the new To be left behind as the memory of light as you awaken Who? Who am I? I am the very last tear to fall from your eyes When the sorrow has long gone When happiness and laughter is in your heart I remain as a mirror to your soul, alone to remind you I am the stains on your shirt and the dirt in your hair I am but a figment of your imagination To be left in the caverns of your mind as your inner child To remind you of when you once hid from reality Why? Why am I here? I am here to bring a smile to your face To bring the gleam in your eyes To be the laughter in your heart, the soul in your words The rhythm of your heart beat Every thought in your head I am here to remind you when you’re too afraid to face reality I am here to love you, to cherish you I am just here Who am I? I am your lover, your friend Your spirit, your soul The light leading you in the dark, your reality I am the one who helps you face your fears I am the remnant of good times passed The one to just be there to tell you ‘I love you’ |
