Pillow cases stained with strains of sweat and we're perspiring
faster, harder than usual under these spotlights of moonlight.
And I know the scenarios your mind is painting behind those
lids dyed white in faux innocence because my mind is in the
gutter beside it, flicking stones with vengeance at the other side.
Note to reader: this isn't one of those x-rated kinds of love story.
The only time we ever delved near to passion was when we were
slitting our own throats with the daggers that we were meant to
throw at each other, hurting ourselves to get to one another.
Hit the bullseye. Maybe I'll sacrifice a prize; remorse in these eyes
is a difficult feat to achieve and the blades that we have spent
are the eggshells we walk on between the fire and the apologies.
Don't look at me with such disdain, baby, I could never stand it.
I'm not trying to start another one of our sentimental arguments.
It's just that I can only craft poetry whenever I'm mad at you.
Exchanging the ink in my pen for molten streams of venom and
hoping that you don't get bitten for arts' sake by mistake.
This is the fate that we deserve just for torching our bridges
just so we can keep some part of us burning past the regrets.
And your expression screams that you've got nothing left to say.
I guess that I've stolen all of your comebacks and that's the
karma you get for stealing months of alleyway kisses from a poet.
Read it as more of a blessing than a curse, darling, when your lips
could always carve deeper graves than any shovel in the cemetery did. |
