NO, i prefer when they sang about being bored, paranoia, love and masturbation, but this era... is not that bad
and that is because you are narrow minded and immature and most likely cant accept the fact that they are going to grow up eventually.....

I dont mean that in a nasty way as i know you are going to take it...but thats the way i think about anyone who says they dont like the new stuff or would rather them singing about the things the did on Dookie.......You should be glad that they sing about things that matter and did grow up but still in a Green Day sorta way............They are still the same old guys they were when they put out Dookie but with families and they are getting older.....I have said this a million times They would sound ridiculous if they were still singing about the same stuff all the time that they did in their 20's................By being the way they are they have allowed us to grow up with them and not grow out of them...............If you are mature person who doesnt get stuck in an age rut you would grow out of them fast if they still only sang about masterbation, drugs, bordom and more masterbation
it's cool if you grow up
it's even cool if you can sing about it like Bob Dylan or something

it's retarded when you try to force yourself to sound political and intelligent when in reality you're a dropout being cheap by investing in the billion-dollar Bush-bashing industry like Green Day Eminem, or Kanye West
they arent forcing themselfs to be political.....they were political way before half those "bush bashing" people like Kayne west or whatever.........look at warning...thats political...sure in a way more passive agressive way...but its there....Billie and Adrienne are involved in something to do with the california government..( i wish i could remember how, that would really help my argument)......But people like Kayne west are the ones "cashing in"...He said one comment about it...it blew up and he got rich end of story...and he made sure he was on live televison so it was heard by millions of people.......Green Day had no idea AI was going to be as successful as it was...they didnt know they were going to make loads of money off of it...It could have been a huge flop for all they knew.....but they still did it because it was how they felt and things they thought should be heard by at the least a few people.........I dont mind the occational immature song, but to be writing like that did with Dookie would be childish......Billie was like 19 or 20 when he wrote half that stuff...being 34 and still writing the same stuff would show that he really has no talent in writing and is just trying to cash in on his earlier success and that he didnt grow as a person

Green Day aren't deliberately trying to be political, therefore the music hasnt suffered. but they've definately grown up, and they're thinking about things that matter, that affect them. in reality if you listen thats what Billie has always done, hes always written abou things that matter to him, that affect him, this is just a new take on things.

They are Green Day. They sing about whatever the hell they want. They just want to make people dance. And I will always love them for what they have done. They rock and we should all just agree that we like what we like and no one can change that. Quit barking up people's asses. We all like Green Day, so there for, we are all on the same side.

and that makes sence then.....i mistaked you as one of the people that just didnt like the new music because they missed the "old Green Day" and thought they were sell outs and whatever else......Those are the people i think are narrowminded and immature.

I like that they have become so amazingly popular, that people see the message in their music. They are getting out the fact to us younger people, who don't enjoy watching the news, that the world isn't all our young, Laguna Beach-type drama.

I don't like that people think they are selling-out and they think that the old Green Day still isn't there. Well I still see that. I hear it in their music, and the way they sound hasn't changed.

the way they sound hasnt really changed.....whats changed is the way they write....there is a huge difference between "old" and "new" Green Day......and its called growth....

And every good band goes through it.......Every band with longevity goes through a peroid of growth...
