This is me trying to get back what I used to have.
Pen poised and eloquent and I can only wish
that this poet could share the same traits.
Cobwebbed nibs, rusted verses in metaphor.
I'm hiding behind pages, deflected in mirrors,
getting stage fright in my own imagination.
Put down those cinderblock stage and tone
down all of those critics in my subconscious.
This revolutionary of ink is sleeping on her art.
I'm winding down windows to let out the city,
shutting doors to imprison my vagrant muses
but their nails on oak-work panels buzz worse
than the neon signs raised outside my window.
Desperation drove this nib down route 101
between the pre-prepared lines on this page.
Train tracks for writers to keep them on topic.
I vary between sources in phases and moodswings.
I'd strike the middle ground but now it's erupting.
One more corpse of success of the doorstep of a failure
and I'm blacking out my windows with white flags
as I'm surrending to my own denial at last. |

You could write about the world's simplest thing, and turn it into something full of life and beauty.
