days rolled into months

my heart began to beat a little faster
every time i heard your voice
i thought we were going to last forever
what a fool i was
i heard you on the other end
tell me "its over"
those two little words
tore me to pieces

my heart still longed for you
hoping that it was just a mistake
hoping that id still get you
if i just sat here and wait
but i waited for days on end
days turned into weeks
and soon they rolled into months
still not another word was said

i never thought i could move on
but the days never seemed to end
i never hear your voice anymore
and i don’t ever dream of being
your love
i don’t really smile when i think of you
sometimes your words still make me cry
but things seem to have changed
and now i feel things are just better
off left as friends

But i still hate to see
you with a smile on your face
after the way you hurt me
i wonder if you ever cared?
i wonder if you ever had a single regret
was i just a mistake
was i worth it at all
what if you could turn back time?
would you go back and take away
the day you and me met
would you turn away now
if i passed you on the street
i wonder if our romance was just all down to fate

iv never had the guts to ask
if i was what made your heart beat
i was always to nervous around you
but yet you made me feel so safe
but then it came to an end
i waited for days
but then those days turned into weeks
and soon they rolled into months
and now i begin to wonder if maybe iv waited to long
im starting to give up all hope

occasionally me and you still speak
and i know we’ve agreed to just be friends
but my heart still breaks
when i hear your voice
and i still remember all the pain you caused
every little word that tore me apart
every moment of happiness you brought
you were never a mistake of mine
just somebody i came to regret over time
and until this day i still wait
to find the love of my life
