Kiffmeyer's Departure

i'm guessing they were really pissed for him to leave like that and leave for a college when you made a frigen album, i mean what the hell, i bet he is kicking him self in the ass since american idiot and all but my dad reckons he has killed himself cos they are global now but i dnt think so

Jon left without telling Billie and Mike and one day they were talking to aaoron 9yes cometbus guy) and he said its a shame about jon leaving and they were like "jons leaving" he never even told them so billie and mike kept trying to get a replacement but they would only stay for a few days so finally dave ec from the band filth joined but after about 2 weeks he said that billie and mike were too good and he wasnt a good enough drummer so then they asked tre who they knew a little from gilman and larry and stuff and tre said yes as the lookouts were pretty much split anyways
i think jon was stupid and mean for not telling them. he now fixes bicycles for a living... but we got tre who is a heck of a better drummer
but you have to give al credit for getting them to play giman as Gilman were hesitant but since Jon was older and in isocracy (another band) they said yes

I'm sure they felt betrayed...but now I'm kinda glad he did and they are to b/c the band wouldn't have made it as far as they did w/o Tre. Come on, he's the greatest drummer of all time!!!! (with tommy lee as runner up )

Tre' is the best drummer in the world. John was okay but nowhere near as awsome as Mr. Cool is.

How can you judge that? He's only played on one album and his drumming skills may have improved since then, just like Tre's have.

John was older than they were by about 3 or 4 years he had been drumming for a long time. if you listen to Tre drumming on Kerplunk or even when he was with the lookouts he was still much better than john. Ive seen them play live when they were with john and I have 39/smooth i dont like his drumming he was okay but he really just wasnt great

Exactly and John is famous now, simply because he has that connection to Green Day. And I bet if anyone met him they'd be excited as all hell they were meeting Green Day's original drummer. I know I'd find it cool.

yeah he might not have wanted to be a rock star.. who knows he might still be friends with Green Day

I think Al was a better drummer, and maybe is, then Tre. I would have perfered he stayed.

Billie Joe says they probably wouldn't have had so much success if al was still the drummer.
So i'm guessing tre is better.

I think tre just added to the band made it more exciting to watch than al did
Al was good but tre has good stamina and such

Mike and Billie were obviously upset about it. But if you think about it, the mod-lady is right. No Al means no Gilman, which means no Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, which means no Reprise, which means no Dookie and it all adds up to "none of us would be here talking about it." so yeah.

Anyway, it probably hurt them a lot. Like, "Yo. I'm leaving. I'm gonna be a college boy! " or something. Well, not like that exactly, but you know what I mean. And he didn't even tell them. They found out through the grapevine. Which must have sucked. But Tre filled in and was able to perform with more flash and bang and kick-ass and just apparently blended better. He was asked to permanently stay after he wrote Dominated Love Slave. I think. You'll have to correct me on that one.
