we definatly need to recycle more..every bin collecting day, my lawn(and a FEW others) only have 1 or 2 bags, but everyone else has about 6 at least, and often chuck out things that could be reused, like clothes-give them to a charity shop.

I think its disgusting the amount people throw out. the people across the road from me, they must throw out in a month what I throw out in a year. You'd think they'd never heard of recycling

When I first saw this thread, i thought it was about kitty littter, Now I understand. I don't think there's anyone who likes litter, so instead of all saying Ewww it's gross, why don't we talk about whats being done to help the enviorment and prevent ltter from getting out of hand.

I think littering is wrong, and we should love our environment. People can complain about their hometowns being a dumped wasteland, well gee, I WONDER WHY?!
Crazy
If only people could have consideration and think about the effects this can have on creatures, even ourselves, we could keep the Earth clean and spotless. You can't possibly be lazy enough to throw a cup on the ground when there is a garbage can 4 yards away from you. Oh wait, you can, it's 2006.

It looks incredibly shitty. Most of what gets littered (bottles etc.) doesn't biodegrade.

But litter is the least of the environment's worries. I'd go for sewage as a higher priority. Emissions as slightly higher.

Still, if you want to make a difference solo as an average citizen with no clout to make factories kneel to your superior wisdom, pick up some Gatorade bottles. Couldn't hurt.

I yell at my friends if they throw something like a bottle on the ground and tell them to pick it up! It makes me mad...

I was always taught that if you can't find a bin take your rubbish home.
And I still do it.
And now that I work and have to clean up after people it annoys me more that people drop litter.
Then they have the cheek to complain about the dirt on the streets.

A few years ago the Irish government placed a 15cent tax on plastic bags.
This was because bushes and rivers and the side of the road had plastic bags everywhere.
And it looks mouldy because they aren't bio-degradeable.
And I have to say since then I have found the streets cleaner.
No one wants to give 15cent to the government for evey plastic bag they get.
So now most people have those "Bags for Life" or paper bags.

It was one of the, few and far between, good ideas the Irish government had.

yesterday i was walking home from work and you know how old people are always saying "pick your rubbish up and bin it?" well yesterday an old lady dropped her chips wrapper on the floor and she just looked at it and left it there, and i picked it up and gave it back to her and she screwed it up and threw it back on the floor so older people are not nescessary better than younger people. What does it take to take your shit home with you and bin it, or even if your walking past a bin ready for collection put it in there.

Keep in mind most people make a living out of other people littering. If you watch Clone High you'll know what I'm talking about. And if you live in Thailand, you'll know.

As for the cute little things you refer to as 'vermin'...well they have to live somewhere. If you ever find one mail to me and I'll take care of it. Very Happy

I hate littering, and don't do it personally. I also ways take my rubbish home if it can be recyclied and put it in a public bin if it can't. The only problem I have is, since I do a lot of walking, there isn't always a bin nearby, I've walked with rubbish for about 2 miles before I found a bin. It wasn't excatly an urban centre admitantly, but it was a public footpath.

My Point: I think councils need to start placing more bins along public footpaths, since theres alot of rubbish around them.

They're a part of the food cycle. Besides, what else is my snake going to eat?

and i agree with you, i l;ive in Blackpool for the people who dont know it, its a big holiday place in Uk, and there are lots of people coming ina dn out every year and the council dont empty the bins very often, also i think that people like, MCcdonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Domino's Pizza and all those sort of businesses should be made to clear up they're wrappers between a certain place to there shops.

People who litter just make me so furious, I mean they even litter if theres a bin right next to them its so stupid. All you have to probably do is walk a few step and put some rubbish in the bin I mean really is it that hard. The world has enough problems why create more?
I honestly think that we are going to destroy our world whether it would be through littering polluting I just think that people NEED to start making the RIGHT choices!
