Procrastination- Curtain Fall for a Fallen Angel{xvi}
Repeat the biblical verse
in a monotone, is she
home all on her own?
The boy; the one she
held so dear.
The hope.
It's time for his test,
yet yet yet, it is too soon.
He's not surpassed eight years
of age!
My nerve endings seem
to scream.
Screaming; screaming; screaming;
yet I do not listen.
These past twenty years
I have been deaf to myself.
Not by force, but habit.
I am habitual as a serene
nun.
With my sword, in this
war, many throats I severed and
the guilty scarlet seems
to cling to my skin like a
cheap perfume, a sex scandal.
The hope, he is cornered.
But Sunshine and Disséminé,
they have their own battles
to succeed, their own scores
to settle.
Such a mercurial tendency
I have.
The pits of hell open,
someone must be sacrificed.
They want the boy.
No, not he.
I cannot hold back my despair,
a love affair, so very cold now.
So unrequited.
Can the brimstone leave her
a fond memory of I?
I steal one last kiss from her lips,
I bid her goodbye. I leave my
rusty trusty sword behind.
I leap into the fire. I burn
like a captive at Belsen
or Auschwitz.
I didn't want to jump,
I had the urge
to finally learn
how to fall gracefully. |
