12 Months.

January.
Trudging through the newborn snow
Melting it as we go on our way to school
Even the snowman stops and smirks
Green bobble hats aren’t so cool.
February.
Valentine’s day! Cupid reigns,
Over tacky delights in stores
Lovers, having forgotten the date
Causing a street furore.
March.
The sparrow sings to remind us it’s spring
Rain drips onto my newly-straightened hair. Bummer.
The central heating turned up so high
How long is it until summer?
April.
Chocolate eggs galore in the fridge!
But I scoffed them all down pretty quick
Now I’m watching tawdry bunny commercials
Oh no. I think I’m going to be… *bleurgh*
May.
The darling buds of, open wide
Unfurling their petals to the sun
SATs loom before innocent children
Is it too much to ask for some fun?
June.
Summer, they call it, I’m still in jeans
Tests rise again for unfortunate youth
The boy’s bike-patrol is out yet again
Do they have nothing better to do?
July.
At last! The sun beats down
And causes us to faint when at home
School’s nearly out for summer!
But Cornwall doesn’t compare to Rome.
August.
All my chums are on exotic trips!
While I mope away with no friends
My eyes have gone square from computer overload
Wake me up when August ends.
September.
The golden brown leaves say goodbye to the tree
And fall as I plod to school. Alas.
I’d forgotten how much some of these people annoy me
I wish that I could move class.
October.
It’s cold, it’s miserable, it’s Halloween
Whiny children steal my fruity chews
My advice; give them the mouldy ones only,
Never again will they bother you.
November.
No-man’s land, between Harvest and Christmas
Scouring the shops for non-novelty presents
“To your loved ones!” guarantee the stores
Why bother wasting money on those peasants?
December.
Icicles fall to the ground in a winter wonderland
In Iceland. No such luck in Kent down here.
Christmas; my novelty sock collection grows 5 pairs
Oh Lord, must I put up with another year?
