I'm Sorry

I'm so sick of lying
Just to save your skin.
You never listen to me
When I'm begging for it to end.

Instead I have to accept it;
Your pain and now mine.
There's just no way to stall you
And I'm running out of time.

'Cause people aren't stupid
And they certainly aren't blind.
They can see these little marks
That your hands sometimes leave.
But you deny it all and say,
"Just wear long sleeves."

That can't always hide every little bruise.
Because they're appearing everywhere.

"Are you doing this to yourself?"
Now I'm the accused.
But it's not fair when
All I am is innocent.

Tell anyone and I swear it!
You'll be dead!

Am I losing my mind
Or am I just partially insane?
But sometimes I think
That it's all just a game.
And nothing you've seen
And nothing you've done.
Makes you the slightest guilty
And it's only begun.

I'm sorry, I'm sorry!
Just please stop.
Shut your mouth
Or I swear you'll be
Punished for it.

I'm sorry dear daddy.
But I'm just not so strong.
And I'm still not quite sure
What it is I've ever done wrong.
