They would give us paint

They still give us paint

Except this paint is for houses
And this glue is for you
It’s my job to mend you

I don’t want this
Now that we’re old
They now give us hate
And now the glue is love
Glue was complicated enough
When we were young
They would hold our hands
And they would sing us songs
And they’d smile at us as we tagged along
They still touch our hands
And they still sing us songs
Except this touch is a sting
And these songs are all wrong
These songs are of hate
They keep burning my ears
These songs are of wars
That can bring me to tears
Read me a lullaby
And tuck me in
Kiss my heart goodnight
And let me swim
I’ll swim to the ends of sanity
Steer away from calamity
When we were young

'When we were young
They would let us talk
And they would listen
And our little wet eyes would glisten'
sounded somewhat forced.
But overall it was pretty good. I especially liked 'I’ll swim to the ends of sanity Steer away from calamity'. Oh, and I loved all the comparisons with the glue and paint. Awesome.  |
