Come along with me.
Sneak past the shadows,
creep, creep, hurry up, now.
I want to take you to a place
where I fear to go on my own.

A river of words,
they mean nothing to you,
so don't bother to take a dip.
Don't stand to close,
they might take you in.
Head first, dive right in,
you wouldn't be the first victim.

Away we go,
soaring.
Our imaginations can take us
on this sail-less boat.
Anywhere.
Anywhere you want to go.
As long as it's not there.

As we walk,
take my hand.
I want you to feel this.
Energy, emotion, anxiety.
Walk faster.
Down this never-ending hallway.
Pictures line the walls.
Lead the way,
I can't bear to look.
And for the love of God,
please don't smile.

Reaching our destination.
We walk through the door,
fingers entwined.
Blinding light!
Arms wrap around me,
prick my spine.
These are not the hands
I remember.
These are not his arms.

Let me go!
How dare you take
what does not belong to you!
Quick darling, run!
Reaching the end of the hall,
I collapse, realizing...
his pictures have not faded...

You pick me up,
a new image is added
to the memories
I hide.
