Taken from... My mind

Amy Winehouse is a comtemporary jazz vocalist from North West London. She hit the music scene in 2003, with her debut album
'Frank' and had hits with
'Stronger Than Me', 'F**k Me Pumps' and
'In My bed' .
Often compared to Jazz greats, Etta James, Billie Holiday and her personal favourite, Dinah Washington, Winehouse has modernised this genre with her sultry voice, urban beats, in-your-face lyrics and rock goddess persona.
In 2006, she released her highly acclaimed follow-up album,
'Back To Black' to rave reviews and had hits with singles
'Rehab' and
'You Know Im No Good'. Her third single
'Back To Black' is to be released later this month.
Most recently, she did a duet with Paul Weller (
Marvin Gaye's 'Heard It Through The Grapevine') and a cover of ska classic
'Monkey Man'. She stepped out of her comfort zone and performed these amazingly- making them her own.
Recently, Winehouse has hit the headlines for the wrong reasons; her alcohol use (to which she venhemently denies having a problem), diva-esque behaviour and her ever decreasing weight.
Personally, I think she is special - she has a beautiful voice. I listen to her songs and they are emotional and sometimes humorous- still better then alot of stuff out there right now. My only concern is that with such a talent comes inner turmoil. I hope she can sort herself out and continue to do well. She's cool.
You should check her out...
