A Ragged Spirit’s Paradise

Velvet touches of delight
upon skins as smooth as silk
creates a four letter word.
Irregular patterns athwart
the soul in soothing waves
calms my worked up mind.
Keep breathing so soft and sound, dear.
Keep reassuring this ragged spirit.

The paradise of my heart
is in the smile from your eyes
that twinkles as all the stars.
This is my life’s antonym
the opposite of which I
forever have dreamed.
Never let me down my sweetheart.
Never dishearten this tattered spirit.

The heavens may break
and fall in pieces
to the ground.
All the light burning
in the firmament
might crash as an inferno
upon a dying realm.

But no matter what our psyche
project as the reality
just promise that you will stay
right here with me
and everything will be okay.

Continue to brighten my view.
Continue to mend this human wreckage.

Never let me down

I loved it. It was really quite beautiful and you've done it again! Beauty! =]

You always write such work of arts. I'm again jealous.

However, it was odd to see that each line didn't start with a capital letter like most poems do. Not that that's a rule but I know I would. Makes it look better, y'know?

=]

Good job!

Thank you, dear ^_^

Blush That’s a huge compliment. Thank you so much Very Happy

Oh, but that’s really a matter of opinion Wink. And I wouldn’t say that most poems are written the way you suggest. A lot of professional poets would write (wrote) the way this is written (at least the ones I know of and can remember right now) because the sentences doesn’t end and therefore there’s no capitalization, even if it’s a new row. (The poets I can think of right now that you might’ve heard of are Catullus, Horatius and Ovidius. They wouldn’t start each line with a capital letter). I’m almost positive that professional poets can write the way you suggests too, it’s just that I really can’t think of one Retard.

I guess it really does depend on the poet.

Most professional poets that I've seen tend to write by capitalising each letter at the start of a line, but I've never liked the idea of doing that. I like to write and tell a story, not build a structure.

And I loved how instead of following a simple idea of bliss as a pure event, you explained exactly where the speaker's bliss came from, that you could explain how with healing comes bliss. That's the feeling that I got, anyway.

I just fell in love with that first stanza. I can't choose a favourite line because it's all so beautiful. And it reads very calmly and fluently, adding to the idea of bliss even more. Very Happy

I think it depends on the poet really because I’ve never seen that (I think) Smile. I’m not really too fond of it but I do it from time to time when I feel that it’s more suitable.

Thanks. I really wanted to do something a little bit different and I’m glad to know that it worked. That’s great because it means that the reader can make his/her interpretation and still get the correct essence of the poem so to speak.

Nice to know. I think it’s my favourite actually. Aww Blush. I don’t know but I think the way it flows is due to the syllable count. It sort of happened by it self but it does follow a pattern (except for the italicised part).

Fuck...

That's... fuck.

That's fucking amazing... I love the italicised part. You always write so beautifully... So precise, and to the point. and you always manage to capture those fine details most people can't. You're truly an astounding poet.

No wonder you're my favourite...
