Shows me how much I know about Russia. I thought this sort of thing went our of style with the Cold War. Kasparov is right; they're not even trying anymore.

Well, guess we'll be liberating Russia any day now. Look out below, Faith.

seriously, though, this is saddening. The fact that a major world power is still trying to pull this shit. Even more saddening is the fact that the U.N. will probably never impose sanctions or any sort of consequences for this free speech violation.

Well, if they don't stick it to Russia NOW--censure, embargo, something--then they're not trying their best.

Besides, I already know they didn't try their best when Bush invaded Iraq contrary to their wishes and nothing happened. Not a resolution, not a thing. Hans Blix got annoyed, as I recall. Otherwise, zip. They never enforce any law that goes contrary to the interests of a member of the Security Council.

They proposed to send peace keepers and the United States refused. They just complied to their wishes. The U.N., and I'm referring the the movie Hotel Rwanda here, have peace keepers, not peace makers.

The U.N. does so much for this world and with too many wars and bombings and all sorts of riff raff going on in the world, they are very under staffed. If they had enough people, then there should be some here where I live, but that's not going to happen, even with the bombings here because they don't have the people.
