Saturday morning sunshine bleeds through the divisions separating the blinds, broken apart like continental drift. On the floor lays scattered denim and rough cotton. My plaid shirt still wrapped around your toes like snakes in grass; squirming through the creases, curious. I just love the taste of your scales against my flesh, in search of orchids. I made eggs just for you. I cracked them into a pan of sizzling liquid fat, and watched the whites mingle like dance partners. I feel the toast crumbs perish into the mattress, grazing against my skin. And I love to lick the dribbling yolk from around your lips, bright like Navajo colour. The yellowing stain upon my quilt holds the scent of your cologne. At least, until I need to push it into the washing machine. |
