Discrimination towards police officers

"Pig" is an OLD gangster term for cop. They called them that because they hated them.

It used to be that "cop" was a bad term for Constable...

I think it depends on which side of the law you are on as far as discrimination goes...

Once I was at a demonstration (I refuse to call it a protest) when George Bush came to Ottawa. I was in the unfortunate placement at the very front, right at the fence they put on, since the cozzers didn't think we were going to get that close to where he was having dinner at the time. So I was standing there, right at the front, being all pressed up against the barrier, and I look down the line of people along the front and see these cops, pulling people over and beating them up, and throwing them right back at the crowd. So I brace myself for my turn and sure enough, I wasn't shouting, screaming, throwing anything, hitting anybody. Just out of the blue I get pulled over the top (And it's one of those double ones with two bars at the top, and it hurt.) these police officers are just hurling their batons at me, I'm trying to cover myself up, so I turn over and then they pick me up and shove me into the crowd just like they did with the others. I ended up with a few cuts to the top of my head and some bruises on my neck.

I don't like thinking about it, I pretend that every single police officer is trying to do their job properly to the best of their ability, I like to think that riot police are the same and are only trying to with hold everyone from storming the premisis in need of protecting, but the truth is that some of them are just plain old rude, and I don't like them. I don't like ebing on the opposite side of the law enforcement, but I'm afraid that sometimes I am.

I don't have a problem with the police that are doing their job.

I hate the ones that are so mean about it, though.

I was with Lik, it was like, her third day in Sydney, and we didn't know what you couldn't smoke on the part of the train station where there was a roof, it wasn't like it was enclosed, and the announcements saying you can't smoke always said enclosed areas. So I said she could smoke there, and this police officer came up to us, and was a total bitch to us. She could see how upset Lik was about the whole thing, and that it was an accident, and she knew that she'd just moved here, but she proceeded to be completly obnoxious about it.

The guy police officer was nice about it, though, and we saw him a couple of days later on a train and he said hi to us and we said hi back. And those are the ones that make my day. But that other one, she kinda make the rest of our day sour just because of how she acted towards us.

I have nothing against the police as long as they are fair and can do their job. But the police here is corrupted. I hate that and I hate that people allow it because we are the one who decide to pay then. But thats another topic. Anyways, I think that police cruelty shows the most on demonstrations. I know they have too keep order, but some of them just love beating up kids. I was in town when the gay pride was held and there were policemen, probably to stop skinheads and others who just go there to insult and torture homosexuals. And there was this drunk guy being really rude to this lesbian, calling her names and everything and the cop just stood there with a smile on his face. It was disgusting. I don't call cops pigs or have A.C.A.B. written all over me because some policemen do their job and try hard, but some of them really are mean and unfair.

For the riot police in Ottawa, they imported them from Toronto. They weren't very nice. Ottawa police are. Because they really let you get away with quite a bit. I've become friendly with a few. At the demonstrationg though, I have never ever seen so many police before. That was quite a lot. Yeah, they were mean.

Cops here are corrupted. I'm not saying they all are, there are good and fair cops. I personally have nothing against them as long as they are doing what they're supposed to do,not being corrupted or just violent. That is also one of the problems with police officers here, they are too violent. There are many people that got brutally beaten up by cops. I don't hate cops as long as they are fair,my friend's father is a cop too. But some of them can really be violent sometimes, especially when there's a football match going on.

I think it's not just the police. It's the things they have to follow and abide to to do their jobs. So it's the laws that they practice & stand for that I am against.



But I do know a few police people who are actually horrible people.
